Storms and Stents

So here we are...1 round of 3 weeks of chemo and an off week is down, and Mom will start the next three weeks of chemo this Friday. She's been doing alright with the Chemo, but did suffer a setback last week as she and Dad headed to the hospital where she was diagnosed with an ilius-part of her bowel was blocked and decided not to work for a bit. There's not much that can be done with that except a liquid diet, pain and nausea pills, and some antibiotics. Unfortunately, the antibiotics have been causing some horrible side effects-mostly flu-like symptoms, so Mom has been struggling lately. Going back to school has been rough for her, and we're praying for some supernatural energy when the kids go back next week!
Today at noon, Mom will be getting her stent replaced, something that she'll be doing every 3 months so that she won't end up back in the hospital with a stent infection!
We all had a wild week with the earthquake and Hurricane Irene...Steve and I were very lucky to have no damage and no loss of power, however Mom and Dad have been without power since Sunday morning! Mom's school continues to have no power as well. Mom and Dad have been taking showers at our house, and today, Mom will be recuperating from her procedure at our house as well....We're praying it comes on soon, but BGE is saying it could be as late as Saturday. We've saved some of their food as we continue to transfer a lot to our deep freezer, however, their fridge stuff isn't looking so good...
So that's where we are...Mom will continue with the chemo and begin teaching the kiddos on Tuesday...I'm back to work while Dad watches the boys in the afternoon...it's all about getting back into the routine of things...

Prayer Requests:
-That Mom starts feeling a little better-no more fevers, chills, and other flu-like symptoms
-That Mom and Dad's power comes on
-That Mom has the energy to teach next week
-That there's a smooth transition for Mom and Dad as they switch from Dad's to Mom's insurance
